Green Vending
Black Tie Services actively seeks to incorporate environmentally friendly practices by promoting green initiatives in our route operations and office activities. With these practices, we hope to complement green initiatives supported by our customers and that together we can make a significant difference in the Baltimore area.
Computerized inventory management reduces the amount of our overstock and expired products, while handheld computers will significantly reduce the amount of paper we use. Of course we have a strong commitment to recycling and all of the paper we use in our office is 100% post consumer waste recycled content.
Within all of our business practices we try to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
- → All cardboard is recycled.
- → We are actively retrofitting our machines to make them more energy efficient.
- → We use only Energy Star Rated Vending Machines.
- → Vending Misers can be installed on our vending machines to reduce power consumption. Previously, when the machines were on, the machine's lights were also on. In the new retrofitted machines, an energy-saving controller uses an infrared sensor to determine when someone is approaching the machine.
- → We are actively installing LED lighting on all our machines to help cut power usage in accordance with energy star guidelines. This also reduces cooling costs since LED's produce very little heat!
